We enjoyed a great visit with Jeff and Elizabeth. This is Great Fall N.P. which is on the border between Virginia and Maryland. Totally unexpected to find waterfalls like this so close.
Also along the western bank is a canal which George Washington had a part in developing, it is now in ruins but impressive
Our guide at the Falls
Everywhere in Reston we saw lush foliage but the most depressing was the continual show of large, healthy begonias. These are about two feet tall, lots of others would be 12 - 15 inch mounds. This is at Reston Town Center.
Depressing because it makes my drought stricken ones look even worse
We stayed at the Inn of the Shenandoah. Lovely to visit in the valley
We enjoyed the Inn
Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah N.P. You can get a sense of why the blue ridge mountains also got their name
This is looking generally eastward
An area of the many trails near their home. I saw a Pileated Woodpecker only a few hundred yards from this point
Elizabeth took us to a garden. While walking we came upon two small, spotted White-tail fawns. They were busy eating daylily blossoms. And very tame, they only left when we were a dozen feet away
A Korean pagoda, very large bell and a surrounding koi pond also located here. It reminded us of Jace on his mission in Korea.
We celebrated by eating some Korean street tacos for lunch, spicy and delicious
A group of white tails I came across while walking with several nice bucks in velvet with them. Saw either 13 or 17 deer that morning. [I may have seen 4 of them twice]
